We Need a Debt Solution

Until we are ready to revamp social security, medicare and medicaid absolutely nothing else will work. Raising taxes doesn't work, it just hurts the GDP which reduces the government's take. And you could cut everything else in the budget to nothing and soon social security and medicare will still exceed the what the government makes. But every time you mention changing social security and medicare the scare tactics begin. Fact is, social security and medicare as we know it are going to end. The question is will they end because we revamp them or will they end after they bankrupt the nation?

Social security was fine until the government stole from it to pay other bills. Make a wonderful example of what .gov ran insurance is like.

It was fine because there were more workers per retiree. Even if it weren't hijacked by the government it would still be going broke because the retirement age is remaining the same while the lifespan increases leaving fewer and fewer workers to support each retiree. It was doomed from the day it started because each person didn't have their own retirement account with money that was their own. Right off the bat the money people were paying in was used to pay those who never paid into the system. It was nothing more than a pyramid scheme from the get go. Politicians did make it worse, but either way it would eventually go belly up.
