Well, another weekend of damaging “gun violence”

I can’t quote the entire article, but it pretty much sums up what we all know to be reality. The likelihood of experiencing violence for the average person is much lower than we (gun owners) and they (hoplophobes) choose to believe.

The problem is not the “They” that are pushing for more control. The problem is that every one of these incidents cause more regular folks to question the existence of firearms. That just continues to give growth to the “other side”, and weakens our position.
Maybe. Or it'll cause more regular folks to realize they might need to get armed themselves.

Our rights sure had a difficult weekend. At least three “mass shooting” events that are being reported on every newscast.
"TO BAN GUNS BECAUSE THE
CRIMINALS USE THEM IS TO TELL THE
LAW-ABIDING THAT THEIR RIGHTS
AND LIBERTIES DEPEND NOT ON
THEIR OWN CONDUCT. BUT
ON THE CONDUCT OF
THE GUILTY AND
LAWLESS,

It seems to me, someone could collect data on each mass shooter to identify the gender, age, etc., and create a profile of the type person most likely to commit such a crime; then, work to establish solutions for them only--that is, without casting a wide net that includes all persons owning a firearm. However, if you are against firearms in general, you do not want to undertake such an effort.

We're really good at managing down instead of up . . . we hold everyone to the lowest/worst standard instead of trying to address the actual issues. Happened every day at my former job location.

When it's not GUN violence, it doesn't seem to lead off the news reports.
A girl was stabbed to death on the grounds of her school in California (Sacramento, I think it was) apparently by some nut job that walked onto the campus and media coverage has been very muted (suspect arrested at these scene).
And I clicked a link and saw a TV news video about the murders of three people at the gun range in Georgia recently. My hearing isn't what it used to be but I watched that video twice to be sure.
The female news announcer literally started reading the teleprompter like "Blah-blah-blah-blah-GUN range-blah-blah-blah-blah..."

Some may not agree with this but anyone that supports gun laws don’t truly support the 2A.

This is correct - I'd say part of our problem is the inability to choose "absolutes".

DUI checkpoints, seatbelt laws, drugs, - too many gutless citizens aren't willing to say "this is a violation of my rights" , and agree to a watered-down version that gives power to the state, in exchange for perceived safety, or worse "for the children".

And REAL freedom is scary and a little chaotic with a lot of inherent risks. Even scarier than that, it requires a lot of self sufficiency in nearly every aspect of life.

I value self-sufficiency and freedom far more than I value comfort and security. I try really hard to teach our kids the same concepts. With enough self-sufficiency and freedom, I can ensure my family's comfort and security with no need for the government to ever be involved. Big government and the people that elect them just have a crippling case of FOMO. They can't stand to not be included in every facet of everyone's lives.

It’s complicated, but I agree, something needs to be done, but where it needs to be done is at the feet and on the heads of those that use guns in violent crime. The blame has to be placed with the person committing the violence, not on an inanimate tool. Problem is, that doesn’t fit the agenda or the narrative. Gun control does.

Tough sentencing guidelines for the use of a firearm in a violent crime won’t stop anything, but if some of the homies got held without bail and locked up for life w/o the possibility of parole it would be an excellent beginning. Tell me why a person that would willfully use a firearm on an innocent victim should ever be allowed to roam the streets again, ever. Rabid dogs & rogue bears and mountain lions are put down, not held captive until their teeth fall out.

Build the prisons. Lock these bastards up and throw away the keys. That’s something I’d be willing to have my tax dollars go for.
We need to quit dink'in around and open season on criminals, NO BAG LIMMIT!
