ok so I was down south on highway 69. Stumbled into a pawn shop. I tend to do that when I am in towns I don't travel to often just in case I see something I need. But anyways went into the store and this place had ammo and guns everywhere. Thinking to myself well maybe they just might have some .22lr or maybe a henry 357 I have been looking for.
I look at a few rifles and the prices were outrageous high. so put it back and said well lets look at some ammo.

was looking and hey they have some .22 ammo. asked them how much for that box of 555 federal ammo. $97. 500 rounds of winchester was like $107. well not buying that. So I said well I just bought a 30-06 what about 06 ammo. well points it out to me. asking 35-50 for a box of 06 ammo. same federal or remington stuff at walmart for $20. and he had 2 box's of old winchester ammo. again 30-06 looked to be 90's model ammo. marked 35 a box. I politely said I would be interested in both box's if ya worked with me on the price. They are some old stock So I know you don't have too much in it since it was bought Back when ammo was cheaper.
was rudely told ya thats true but I have marked everything up to current prices of what it is selling for now. That way I can make a living like everyone else. I told him well I will keep looking for ammo else where thanks for your time.
could not believe a store owner would say that to a customer. I can promise I will never ever say to go there if someone asks. which I don't live close to there but still wouldn't recommend them.

We have the same problem in Ponca City... Even though there's a walmart 3 box limit, I saw the local FFL arsehole buy the whole pallet this morning as I waited patiently for my turn to buy... He's peddling black box federal 223 for $35 a box/20rnds... WWB 9mm 100rnd for $70... And WinXpert .22lr 550's for $65

I used to love going to pawn shops. But lately they all feel like garage sales: used junk I don't need that they think is worth a fortune.

There used to be deals at pawn shops but not anymore.

well i mean just about 20 miles north of said town in wagoner I went into a pawn called Roadrunner pawn prices seemed to still be fair. Came across 7 box's of 8mm remington magnum. he was asking 20 a box ended up buying all 7 for 130 out the door. I mean a heck of a deal for me. gives me some more brass for reloading and my 8 mag seems to like that 180gr. stuff from remington anyways. So there is still hope out there I just know that for sure when traveling through checotah I will not stop in that pawn shop again.

I was a manager for a chain you all have heard of when I was in college. I will NEVER step foot in one again. You want a deal, go visit your local dealer or OSA classifieds. You will be much better in the long run.

I don't even bother with Pawn shops anymore.
Out of shear stupidity, I occasionally visit the one in SE Norman (by Harbor Fright) and that usually fixes my idiot-spell for another 9 months.
Total junk, retail prices, and rock-solid on the price. Don't bother negotiating.

I've only wandered through about 4 other Pawn shops in the last 10 years, but they all seem to be equally overpriced.
Maybe I just suck at negotiating. I usually just pay an extra 20% and buy it new on Amazon.

For the record, I've never been to Sooner Pawn.
They have a nice website and lots of people give them good reviews.
