Well, I’m really stuck in the ruts on the “outside of the normal” train.
For more insanity
Well, I’m really stuck in the ruts on the “outside of the normal” train.
Man that is a great one and is the one I listened to today in the 57 chevy.I gave you one that plays them lol.
I agree mostly with what you said, but I have to somewhat disagree with Bluegrass being the only true American style of music. Bluegrass didn’t get its name until the 1940’s when Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys came along. Before that it was simply what we now call Old Time music. A good deal of the old time music was written by folks living in and around the Appalachian mountains, and a lot of the tunes were brought with them from overseas and handed down through the generations. I personally think that the Old Time music was the first true American style. Old Time music is driven by the fiddle and banjo, and the banjo was introduced into North America by African slaves. The use of the banjo in these old time songs had never been done before until it came here which is why I say that Old Time is the first true American style.I have played guitar, mandolin, upright bass, sinse I was a kid. In my opinion entainers that use gimics, are as a rule, covering up their short comings as musicians, and singers, which is fine with me!! I like just about any type music that is well done. Although I am yet to hear any rap, that was well done!! I like do-op, early rock -n- roll, like the Every Brothers, the early Beatles, country like George Jones, Marty Robbins, etc.! In my opinion these people and some other's don't need a crutch, like weard, dress, actions, smoke and morrors, flasing lights, etc. their music speaks for its self! My favorate type music is Really Good Bluegrass, really good acoustic instruments, and good tight harmony vocals!! much of the songs in bluegras are old stories, songs, brought to the Applitians, by European immigrants, or based on true events! I don't like bad or poorly done bluegrass music, but when it's done right , their is nothing even close, as well as it is the ONLY TRUE AMERICAN STYLE OF MUSIC, that originated here with influnces from many other styles, gospal, jazz, blues, folk, country, etc. and presented in a very different style!! The people that play this music do it for the love of this music, not money!! The definition of a bluegrass musician is, " someone that takes a $10,000.00 instrument, gets into his $1,000.00 car, drives 5000 miles, to play for $50.00!!" As Tom T Hall once said, " Ant no money in it, it will lead you to an early grave!!"
