I just switched over to SC from 4831 to try. It meters a lot better. Just need to get more bench time. I need to find some more ballistic silvertips cause I think they look better with the nickle cases and I'm sure the lubalox coating gives them an extra 50fps!:burnout:

6 ARC bullet set back test. now I guess I need to work on me. Best group is MOA out of a AR platform. I’m guessing I need to work on powder charges. I do have something that can play with and adjust.

Didn‘t do anything in the reloading room but sighted in my newly acquired Ruger Gunsite Scout 308. FGMM shot 1/2” groups. Decided to throw in some of my reloads I built for my Springfield Waypoint, 178 gr Eld-X, and was pleased to see they shot sub 3/4” groups. I think I am just going to go with that rather than develop a whole new load. Keep it simple that way.

Not the best SD and ES. Out of the 5 different powder charges this is what showed the best results.
Just a FYI, mine seems better closer to max charges.
This is what a buddy loaded for me to play with on my old savage 110 years ago:

And from an old Hornaday reload manual before they bowed down to all the ambulance chasers:

Just know this was before imr and hodgdon both had 4831 so figuring out which one they used is anyone's guess. I just know that the loads my buddy did were compressed so proceed with caution! Eyebrows are a precious commodity! :rollingla

These all copper bullets I think are my problem. I shot some hornady 143 ELD-X’s factory loads today and did better. I’m still learning this reloading stuff. I started at 55grs of H4831sc because the Nosler book said that was the best results.

Thank for the help.

I'm still a newbie myself and it erks me to no end that every load book has different max charges and bounce back and forth between cup and psi so nearly impossible to compare apples to oranges, but it keeps me outta the misses' hair so I guess that's good. I guess...
