Some years ago I had a friend who owned a gun shop. One day while visiting at the shop he showed me a pistol made by CZ ,I beleive but not sure. This pistol was chambered in an obscure rifle cartridge that was unfamiliar to me . This friend told me it had been previously banned (assault rifle, Brady Bill?) and had just become available again.
Does anyone know what this weapon would be?
I have been wracking my brain and simply cannot remember.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Probably a CZ-52 chambered for the 7.62x25 Tokarev, which is a bottle-necked round that would look like a small rifle cartridge. Neither the pistol nor the round have been banned but this cartridge, with the proper bullet, will go through most soft body armor. Here's a link to look over if you want to know more about it.
