What's your favorite rifle?

For me, it has to me a T/C Encore, just for it's versatility. From pack rifle to Elephant gun......

I'll bet that .416 is a man killer to shoot!

For the semi auto it has to be the AR platform. My favorite bolt is my Ruger in 270. Have tried many calibers but always come back to the 270. When I can trade for an AR 6.8spc I will feel complete on rifles.

I like the falling blocks. Farquharson, Martini, the Ruger #1, Hi walls, Lo walls, I like'em all.

The M1 Garand gets my vote. There's nothing like them. Except the M14 which runs in about 4th place for me.

I like falling blocks and double rifles, but these SMLEs may be the favorites that I own. Or maybe it's the Swedish Mauser.

I've always favored bolt guns. The new ARs intrigue me. I haven't shot one since I was in the Air Force (pre-1981), so I don't know how good the new ones are, only what I read.

My favorite rifle I owned was a Browning A-Bolt (Gen 1) Stainless Stalker in .270. That rifle was the best shooting gun I've ever owned. It shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards all day long with either Remington Core-Lokt (cheap stuff) or Federal Premium ammo. And with reloads using Ballistic Tips, 1/2" groups were the norm. I kick myself in the butt every time I think about the time I wanted something different and sold it.

I really want the original version of the Tikka Whitetail Hunter (not the T3) in either .270 or 7mm-08 (I like to shoot a lot, but don't like recoil). But, I've slowed down on my deer hunting lately and can't justify the expense.

Ruger mkII bolt action in .243 win. I like the rest but that was my first deer rifle and hold a special place in my heart. For layin the smack down rem 700 in .300 winny.

Oh Danny we gotta talk. You and I are the same age and apparently have similar interest. Justification for the purchase is getting and doing something you really enjoy. We may still feel pretty young but in reality we are getting on the short rows of life. After defeating cancer I figured out the most improtant thing is to enjoy life each day and eliminate as many regrets as I can. The only way I can actually justify any more gun purchases is that it makes me happy and that is what counts.
