I inherited my grandfathers High Standard Model B. IIRC, it was made in 1942. He got it when he was an officer in the Navy. On the frame near the rear it is stamped "Property of US Navy". Also came with the original flap type leather holster. I was never able to ask him why they issued him a .22lr pistol but my guess is it was one he would wear to a Navy formal dinner type event? Anyone have any idea? It is a very cool old pistol and shoots well andnis in great condition. One thing that that makes it more special is my uncle (my aunt's husband who married into the family) wanted it for him and my aunt. They are total Libs and antigun. Everyone in the family knows I hunt and enjoy firearms so my mom "fought" for me to get it and my aunt finally said OK.
I guess I am pretty lame... nothing old or fancy or commemorative or passed down.
I guess for me it would be my Para Ordnance .45 or my RRA AR. Although when I put it all together, I suspect my new varmint/long-range FrankenAR will probably take over the title.
