Much beloved, lives austere lifestyle, humble guy (Probably won't want Benedict's red Prada shoes)
Quite conservative
Took lots of flack for not being more in the face of the military when thousands of his countrymen were "disappeared"
Not (probably) good news for would-be reformers within the Church. (You never know how someone is going to act once they are in a lifetime job.)
As to "who cares," like it or not this is a world leader who can have an effect on about every life on the planet. I'm not a catholic, but I wish him well.
