Actually, not all Oklahoma coal is high-sulfur. Thermal or Steam coal is the most abundant, but the less common, metallurgical coal is VERY low in sulfur. It is, in fact, put directly in molten iron to add carbon content to produce steel. An example of metallurgical coal is the Sequoyah vein that is found in Rogers County, Oklahoma.

Well it takes 13 mph SUSTAINED wind or above for the large turbines to function properly! Now finding places where A13 mph sustained wind blows 365 days a year and you immediately see the hidden dum down of wind being effective long term. Coal and gas turbines run potentially 24/7 365 and make electricity that can be counted on.

The thought of batteries providing power for millions upon millions of households is like farting in the wind!

Nobody is talking about running an entire country on 100% wind or 100% solar and storing it 100% in batteries. In what world is that even a reasonable conclusion to jump to lol. You could be anti-everything and still realize that's a pants-on-head retarded assumption.

It's also hilarious that you completely disregarded everything in my post to shriek about something entirely different.

But here's a great primer for just how much wind-capacity there is available. Hint: It's a lot:

• Global onshore and offshore wind power potential at commercial turbine hub heights could provide 840,000 TWh of electricity annually. Total global electricity consumption from all sources in 2017 was about 22,347 TWh. Similarly, the annual continental U.S. wind potential of 68,000 TWh greatly exceeds annual U.S. electricity consumption of 3,896 TWh.

Yes and the reliability of those fringing things , just like batteries is well a JOKE! I’ll take RELIABLE coal followed by gas and you can sit in the dark with your wind and batteries this winter while sleep comfortably

We may have folks here that work in the industry. Any of you that can shed light on whether this video is truthful?
Let me check with Obama, he's very knowledgeable about solar energy...

How about geothermal? That is supposed to be very energy efficient but I know of no one that has this type of system-although OG&E has some program whereby one can buy it through them.

Here, but occasionally There.

There is an neighborhood in Mustang that touted all homes to be geothermal. We looked into the system and decided that even if we went that route, we might not "reap" the benefit if we sold the house.

The real irony here is, way back when, people who lit their houses with whale oil and heated their houses with wood most likely said the same things about coal.

People literally called electricity the devil and villainized it since they'd had it so good illuminating America with gas and warming with steam.

It's hard to compare apples to oranges so far apart in the ages of each technology.
