I'll buy you a case of ammo if you can get me a rock river Arms 1911 for $500

I'd bet he meant Rock ISLAND Armory. Decent pistol so far mine is every bit as accurate as my Kimber and has proven to be just as reliable (very) with just over 1K rounds through it. But, it isn't in the same league as a Les Baer.

Ithaca is introducing a deluxe $3,500 1911 A1 model. But, I've heard they may come out with a more basic version soon after - price point of $800-$1,200. Can't wait to see it.

Don't go buying a Taurus or Remington POS! you have to have something right now, I'd go with a Springfield Mil-Spec or Loaded. Can't go wrong with either of those.

Personally, I prefer the Mil-Spec with its more classic lines. The Loaded is a little too Huggy Bear for my tastes. It just cries out, "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!! STEAL ME!!!".

What exactly is wrong with taurus pt1911? (other than the hideous banner sized letters on the slide). I've been looking into one as a good option for an affordable gun

They've had several small part issues including safeties and ejectors falling out. IT also has a hammer lock that has been reported to turn the gun into a single shot.

Try looking at an STI Spartan.

What he said. You can do alot better than a PT1911 for the money. For a budget 1911 I would look at the Rock Islands

If it as good as his revolvers (I currently possess a Clark Model 10, on loan from a family friend) I would jump on one if in the market at that price point.

I would really like something that comes in a SS finish. neither the STI or the RIA have those available (that I just saw on gunbroker). Any other recommendations for an affordable stainless gun? I'd also like an alloy 1911 similar to this one.
