A few recent threads have me curious. I have no children, and have never had the slightest desire to have any. I guess I am missing that parent gene. I don't like even being around other peoples kids.

Makes me wonder if there are others out there the same.

I don't generally like kids, have none. The first time I changed a diaper, I was a senior in college during my OB rotation. I'll probably have one or two at some point. No time soon, Lord willing and the creek don't rise. My mom said she really never liked kids but it was a lot different when it was her own.

You're missing out. I used to feel the same way 15 years ago but after my first, I wondered why I felt the way I did before. Kids are great. I love both of mine.

This is how both my wife and I feel. I am 30 and want no part of them. My wife dislikes being around kids even more than I do and she is a teacher. She doesn't mind them at work, but wants nothing to do with them once she leaves for the day. I can take a few hours of my 7 year old niece and about 1 second of the 2 year old. More power to those that like and want them, but I'm out.

You are not missing out. Never wanted kids. I have one and wouldn't trade him for the world but if I could go back in time and do out over again I would make sure it never happend.

I have a step-daughter (35) and grandson (12). Love them both, but glad the wife and I didn't have any kids together. Love kids....for about an hour. Then they start wearing on me. I like my freedom also. To each his own though.

I didnt want them, but now I have them, and I love them!!

Its very hard to deal with my kids sometimes, However you just cant turn them off.

Those of you who do not like kids, and you accidently get your GF preggo, and do the right thing and be a man, and do your best to raise them. I promise you, will not be able say "I wish I didnt".

As far as changing diapers, I refuse to change any kids diapers but my own. I have changed a coule of thousand.

I ALWAYS said I would never have kids. However, I believe its a natural part of evolving for the adult. It allows you to remember your youth, not your crazy teen days, but little stuff like, remembering taking naps with Mom, or laying under the Christmas tree for hours, or having that warm cup of hot chocalte that Mom made just for you after almost freezing to death playing in the snow.
Every single day of my life now, my heart is refreshed with memories of childhood, while I sit there, and watch my childrens memories get created right infront of my eyes.
The first time my daughter said "da da".... or my son said "I love you Daddy"
You just cant describe how it makes you feel. It's part of keeing your soul alive and growing.
I thank God for my children everyday, and I dont even go to church. I hated kids. I belive in them now.
I know exactly how you peeps feel that do not have children. If you ever have any. You will see.
I HATE country music (and western), but listen to that Kenny Chesney (spelling) song "There goes my life."
Thats the way it is, if you are lucky / blessed.

Thanks for reading my ALMOST tearful rant.

I sure am thankful for my Family, and my extended Family, which is all of you here at OSA!!

((((HUGS))))

I'm 22. Have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I love them both dearly. I can understand how some may not be able to take care of other living beings, but the ones who can, really have something special. There's no words to describe how much they mean to me. I may be a little extra tired, sore, or exhausted some days... But it's worth every second. X100

I love kids. Wish I was young enough to have several more.
I have two older kids and missed having a little one so we had one more.
There is 10 years difference between the two youngest.
