Wasn't this thread about a Beretta 92fs pistol and not the ammo it shoots??
I seem to remember that being said a couple times already in this thread, but the discussion continues about the ammo and not the gun itself.

It was about the weapon itself, but as this particular weapon is specifically chambered for 9x19 I think it was germane to the poll question. Unfortunately, it appears to have morphed into the old .45 v 9 debate. My bad. LOL.

I stated it was not my first choice.
Sorry, what would be the first choice then?

If you think smaller is better, then try a .177 CO2 pellet gun if you like, it is your decision.
Despite sarcasm, you are actually onto something. Not CO2, but hydrogen powered pellet gun pushing 4gn 17cal pellet at 8400ft/s (600ft/lb muzzle energy) - might be the most devastating handgun ever: I don't have any real data but we are talking about 4-6" permanent cavity here!

My first choice is a rifle. LOL. Seriously, my personal preference is generally a large/ medium DA wheel gun, but that is not always practical. I use, and have used, 1911s, the M&P, and XD's in 9MM, .40, and .45. Any of the pistols would be my preference over the Beretta or Glock. it really boils down to ergonomics for me. I have a large hand with short fingers. I would not feel under gunned with the M9, and I shoot it with relative accuracy, but accuracy is better, for me, with the other choices.

They say "Beware the man with one gun", but having some experience with 'pickups' is not a bad idea. I suppose I am not stuck on one gun or round, but some I like better than others. For example, I am not a .40 fan, but some swear by it. I really was not being sarcastic. My point was if you are that good with a particular combination, then go with it.

Well, I'm late to this thread and I can see that it has wandered.

On the 92...it rocks. For years I was blissful in my ignorance: the Beretta was too fat, too big, 9mm sucks, the safety sucks. Blah blah blah. Then I picked up Ayoob's book on Beretta for $5 at B&N. Hmmm...

Since LE trade-ins could be had pretty reasonably, I ended up with one shortly thereafter. Yes, the grips seem fat but it handled well for me, unlike an HK USP. In fact, it's rather a natural pointer for me.

Safety and TDA...I'm over it. It works fine for me once I tried it instead of navel-gazing about it.

Big, blocky sights: work like a charm for me.

Ease of takedown for cleaning and maintenance: just outstanding, and makes it much less of chore.

Obviously some of you have had lousy trigger pulls, but the ones I've tried range from very good to an outstanding (on a DAO). The trigger reach for my medium sized hands: no problem, and better than a CZ75.

Parts and mags: inexpensive, available, and of good quality. I have had outstanding reliability.

Accuracy: quite fine and fully as good as any other service pistol I've tried.

Now I realize that no pistol can be all things to all people, and for various reasons the 92 may not be "it" for you. But don't knock it unless you've tried it for yourself. I'm no fanboy either, as I appreciate other platforms such as Glock, Sig, the 1911, CZ75 and S&W third gen autos.

Still, this is a rare opportunity to proudly cast a vote for a candidate that I really like!

I'm not getting into the caliber war here just wanted to give my opinion of the M92. I have owned two, an original 92 with the frame mounted safety, it worked perfect wish I had not traded it off. And, my current Beretta, an Elite II. Sure it is large for a high cap 9mm, but it has a good SA trigger pull, works 100%. and is very accurate. For a hammer fired, aluminum frame 9mm it is right in there with the Sig P226 and S&W 3rd generation. I think it is a fine pistol myself.

I'm sorry - your logic inevitably leads to throwing the whole pistol - more grains per "shot". There is no evidence of projectile's weight making difference, I'm talking about as in mathematical zero.

Placement Penetration Construction

According to whom? Just curious, since you're speaking in absolutes, do you have a scientific study showing that weight makes NO difference whatsoever?

Those Elite IIs are just dead sexy.
