I have looked at the kit as well as one for my ar15, but I cannot justify spending that much on kits when I could just buy another pistol / rifle for roughly the same cost.

if you like the 1911 platform get the gsg 1911. SSP has them in stock. The lowers are mostly interchangeable with 1911 parts. That and the sig 1911.22 is the same gun.

I like my Ruger MkIII 22/45. It shoots federal bulk pack like w champ. Standing, off hand hits on steel torsos from about 60 yards

I bought a Walther p22 as a gift for my kid. He likes the cool factor of the frame options (digital camo for us). First time I shot it using walmart bulk ammo and it wasn't very reliable. I'm headed out this afternoon with a box of CCI mini mags and hopefully, it'll perform better.

But for me, I'll be going with a Ruger MkII/MkIII or an GSG 1911-22.

my sig (gsg) 1911 was very picky for the first box of ammo. FTF and all that. 2k rounds later and it feeds anything besides subsonic. If you get a gsg break it in with good ammo and it might not be a bad idea to fit the slide and frame together.I noticed a lot of the finish has worn on the rails and i think that makes it not hang up anymore. My problems were a lot of stove pipes or fte.

If you are still thinking about getting a Heritage, start looking at the Black Friday ads this next week. Someone always has them for $100 or so. I have had a couple. They are fun shooters. I might get another this BF. Between Academy, Bass Pro, and all the others, someone will have have $100 Heritage pistols. I can't see paying anywhere near $200 for one, like the gun show wanted.
