The Head Start program has now wasted $180 billion, but it has no lasting effect on student achievement. In the long run, children who participate in the taxpayer-funded program do no better than similarly situated children who don’t. But even in the short-run, the benefits of participation are virtually non-existent...

Increasing numbers of secular, educated parents are choosing to homeschool their children, due to the “notoriously inadequate education system” in places like New York City, where municipal governments spend colossal amounts of money on education, with very poor results for students.

...

Growing public disenchantment with dysfunctional public schools and desire for change has triggered a backlash among progressive legal scholars and academics who do not want children to be able to escape failing public schools. For example, a prominent progressive law dean and law professor, Erwin Chemerinsky, is urging the courts and lawmakers to ban private schools and homeschooling in order to force everyone to attend the public schools. In his view, this is the only way to “desegregate” the schools and achieve racial and social equality.

We pulled out our kids (just had kid #6 last Thursday) and I wouldn't change home schooling for the world! We'll fight hard to keep the opportunity to highly educate and teach about God.

Ah, yes. Forced public education under the guise of forcing kids to "desegregate". I thought that happened about, oh, forty years ago? That should bring inner city schools up to ready-for-college levels, and help relieve those uppity white kids of their "white privilege". The system isn't failing. The kids aren't failing. And the parents don't really want a better education (and a safer school environment) for their kids. It's just that damned racism again.

I say we do the opposite. There is nothing about schooling in the constitution, it all should be privatized.

There is nothing at the federal level.

However, at the state level there is. In fact, the right to choose your child's education, including homeschooling, is protected by the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma.

I've known a couple of homeschooled kids who couldn't read at 14. That's child abuse.

In this day and age why would you NOT want to homeschool your children? Public schools are institutions of indoctrination and degeneracy. The quality of education is improved somewhat at a private school but degenerate peers are still around. With homeschooling you can teach your kids things they actually will need to know, you can surround yourself with other like minded parents, and you will know at all times where your children are. Pervert teachers are becoming more frequent as well.

Take it from me, as someone who went to public schools K-12, don't send your children to a public school!

I've known 14 year olds that could put an attorney in his place. I've known college graduates who couldn't read. In fact, the vast majority of college graduates are less than proficient when it comes to literacy.

Veg, you young autodidact ************, I have no doubt that you and Ms.Bookworm can educate your children at home.
You aint everybody.
