IF heaven is the mind of my Maker, then I'm okay with going. Otherwise, I'm fine with simply ceasing to exist. I have no recollection of existing prior to birth, likely will have no recollection of my existing after death. I don't fear death nor attempt to fine peace by grabbing onto unprovable dogma to satiate my mind while currently sentient.

Here, but occasionally There.
Go back and read some of my previous comments. I stated that I know God exists based on the evidence of nature itself. I have zero need for faith, belief and books written by men when I have the evidence right in front of me. So much for reading comprehension.

You interest me. You believe in God, but not in a need for faith, belief and books written by man. However, who is this "God" you speak of, and do you believe that, as your creator, He doesn't have any requirements of you?

I don't "believe" in God. I've stated several times that belief is an emotional attachment devoid of facts to an idea with the hope that it is true. Based on the evidence that the universe exists and that there was a cause of the first cause, the reasonable conclusion is that there is a grand designer, aka God.

What does God require of me? Good question. I don't think God requires anything of me. If anything, maybe that I acknowledge he exists based on his revealing himself to me through his creation of the universe.

Terry much like SM Rider, that's the boat I'm in. Not speaking for him at all.

I think we were created. I think there was a Jesus event. I don't think Jesus was God or Mary was a Virgin giving birth. I think man evolved and created religion.

For me, I think God exists outside of religion. ....we don't need religion to exist and God doesn't either.

He is what he is and much like infinity, we just don't live long enough to ever figure out the eternalness of God.

God just is....without proof or fact.

Belief doesn't require emotional attachment. If it did, you'd have an emotional attachment to the laws of physics. You've stated that you know that God exists, and in the minds of many here that don't, you are definitely a believer. And, I guess you think you were created just so God could watch and see what you do. Is your existence and life's experience that intriguing that God wouldn't be bored with what you do, versus what all everyone else does?

Good discussion here.

Since you've broached the subject. Why would an all-powerful being need for us to do anything at all? Why would he or she need to be worshiped? Why would he or she even be capable of being bored, as you put it.

At what point are we just puppets or playthings?

It's very much a parent and child type relationship. God desires a relationship with us because he loves us. Don't ask me why he does, but he does. I love my kids and would do anything in the world for them. So does God.

perhaps. But would you require them to worship you? Would you be upset if their life bored you?

Also, parent/child doesn't really cover the all-powerful aspect of the relationship dynamic or the whole, all-seeing, all-knowing stuff. If God (the parent) is all knowing, then why would he or she need us (the child) to worship or praise him or her at all? Wouldn't he or she know what is in our heart, regardless of our actions, doubts, beliefs, etc?
