HIPAA laws are federal laws, MJ is still illegal federally, how'd ya like that, lol. A doctor that takes/reviews MJ license applications etc, are required to be HIPAA compliant, a dispensary (most of them??? idk) might not be covered entities, HIPAA regs would not apply. If they (Feds) want your information they can always use subpoenas or warrants since cannabis is still a schedule 1 narcotic and federally illegal.

To know who HIPAA laws apply to, you need to figure out if they are a covered entity.

I am not a legal expert at any level but have some understanding of HIPAA law. I'm not very clear of the relationship between MJ licensing, physicians, dispensaries, and the medical records involved.
Well for 35 years I been cool with the feds and canaibis and firearms so I really dont think you know WTF your even talking about,
The law on MM is so relaxed and normalized in 33 states (for the slow people that is well over half the US).

I know the laws are relaxed, I'm glad about that actually, I don't have any problems with it. I was trying to clear up a little info about HIPAA, and who it applies to. I highly doubt Feds are concerned about it anymore, how many states are left, I think only 7 are still illegal? IMO I think everyone should give it a try, especially if they have certain problems, like cancer, chronic pain, seizures, sleep disorders, anxiety etc. I'd rather try cannabis than eat a bunch of pills everyday, opioids, NSAID's followed by more pills to counteract side effects.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, it really sucks to have chronic pain, it sucks worse when you can't get effective help asap. I think with the latest, very strict regulations on opioid pain meds, Docs might trying to keep their numbers low to stay under the radar, trying alternatives or weaker strengths. I looked up Belbuca, and as most meds, it has a bunch of concerning side effects, I like this one, "Common side effect: pain anywhere in your body" Haha

Ya so far all it has done is give me a minor headache. Going to get on the phone as soon as I can with the PM doc. Don't expect much but she will know what I am thinking.

Shot twice, stabbed once, fell off 3 buildings, ran over 3 times , bit by a copper head, picked up by a tornado and slammed down a block and a half later. Skull fracture from a bat, multiple automobile wrecks with multiple injuries, hung once, horse wrecks , motor cycle wrecks, electrocuted, ran a piece of steel through my eye and pulled my eye out trying to remove it and the list goes on an on
...so many questions to which I really don’t think I want to know the answers...

NOT A DOCTOR, but I found that taking an Aleve along with a pain med worked best for me.

From what I understand, opioids work on the brain end, and Aleve (NSAID) works on the nerve end. The best pain relief I ever had was taking one wimpy 50mg Tramadol along with one Aleve (Walmart's knockoff actually). That combination relieved my pain (back/hip/knee combination) much better than Hydrocodone/tylenol the Doc gave me, and didn't make me dizzy like the Hydrocone/tylenol did.

Unfortunately, Aleve sends my BP through the roof. :/

Again, NOT A DOCTOR, AND THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE.

It will do that to some folks. I have to say it does work for me but I'm at 500mcg BID. I have been able to drop from 600mg of gabapentin 5 times a day (yep you read that right) to 300mg TID most days -- I'd say probably 95% of the time. It took me 8 weeks or so to go from the 50mcg BID to the 500mcg BID dose of Belbuca I found consistent reliable pain management at.

I also had some problems with headache at first. (I can actually tell you the difference in what kind of headaches I have and which ones I have causing me problems on any given day now. I couldn't do that 40 years ago.) Those headaches were treatable with aspirin and I don't get headaches from the Belbuca any longer. That side effect passed in the first couple of weeks for me.

Eta: Don't give up just yet. I'd keep at it until your MMJ card comes in. I will say this -- the pain doc will drop you when she learns you have a card. So ... My advice would be keep trying her suggestions until your card gets here. You might get some relief ... And if you dont ... Well ... Then at least you will have another option to go to. Everyone's pain is different ... And different things work for different people.

MJ works on my mingraines but not my cluster headaches. The regimen I'm on for cluster headaches also works on my migraines and headaches the muscle spasms in my neck cause. Plus I can only do MJ at night because I'm worthless as tits on a boar hog after using. My pain meds treat my pain and leave me functional.

So I stick with pain management and no MMJ card for me for now. That might change in the future if the cluster headaches and the neuropathy resolve at some point in time.

Belbuca comes in minute minuscule doses which is probably what they gave you. It is damn expensive too for those little cheek patches. They told me I could up my dosage to twice what was prescribed but none of them worked on my pain.
Don't do that unless you talk to your doctor.
