I may be kicking myself on down the road, but I passed on this guy tonight.

I had 2 bucks in front of me by 6:20pm then 4 more, including this one from 6:40 til well past dark.

Nice buck, but you have pics of better.
Be patient. If the big guy doesn’t get taken this year, think how much bigger he will be next year.

Yah. And tonight was the first night I’ve been in a stand this year. I couldn’t let an arrow fly on the first night knowing that big guy is out there.

Plus, I figure either of my daughters would be thrilled to get this one, so I hope he is still around when they get out here.

I think you did right by passing that one. Are you still getting the big buck on camera?!?

Stay the course and keep your sights on him. He’ll slip up and make a fatal mistake.
As I’ve mentioned before, I have been moving my cameras in attempt to track him back to his core, or bedding area. I pulled cards this morning and I think I’ve got it pretty well identified. He comes out of the woods onto the main trail at this spot probably 75% of the time. I have picture after picture of him entering the trail from the west. Before I leave for a few days, I’ll be hanging another stand someplace in this area and leading up to rut, I will be camped out in that stand…at least when the wind is right.

I’ve been on the fence whether to shoulder or euro mount my buck. My son wanted me to shoulder mount him, but of course, he ain’t the one paying the bill. I made the executive decision this morning to do a euro mount and am happy with the results. :thumb:

That was a hoss from any way you got it mounted. You did well this year already.
