I saw that same one, surprised one was that far North.
A bull elk was killed by a vehicle in Osage County 10 or so years ago. They did a search of all known captive animal ranches in the area and never found one that had lost an animal.
No proof, but there was speculation that it followed the Arkansas river from Colorado. We had a black bear pass through once, and a mountain lion that was killed by one of our coal trains in Noble county years ago as well. It was collared. Young male from South Dakota.
The Arkansas river runs within a few miles of each incident.

I don’t drive much these days as I usually work from home, but Sunday morning I was out briefly and saw 2 dead does 25 yards apart on the highway. One of them was their last week. About the same time I saw does a truck pulling a side by side had 2 good bucks hanging out the back. You guys seeing more dead deer on the roads yet or still a week or two away? This was in SW OKC Area.

The highway deer carnage is starting. We have a yard feeder. The young bucks are coming around with noses to the ground and running off the does.
We drove to Lamont to Kats steakhouse Friday. There were three dead deer on the road. One with a head off, so it was probably a buck.

I’d say it’s already starting, because here’s a little guy doing the horny trot on the south bank of the Salt Fork today.

I bought this second hand CVA Optima 50 cal pistol earlier this year and have been wanting to try to kill something with it, and since I didn’t make it up for ML season and wasn’t giving the ODWC any more money anyway, I’ve decided to attempt to draw some blood with it here in TX.
The dang thing bucks and snorts a little but is really accurate and fun to shoot. I’m using 50 grains BH209 and a 260 grain cast lead hollow point bullet in a black Harvester crush rib sabot.

That looks like it would sure hurt the wrist to shoot. Yet, I am a big wimp when it comes to pain.
