What do you guys think about 300 Blackout vs 5.56? To me it seems an awesome way to make my gun a hell of a lot more powerful with just a barrel change.

Why not just go .308?.....isn't ammo more plentiful and cheaper?

It's all about what your trying to acomplish.

A semi auto 308 is pretty darn expensive to get into and way overkill for CQB

A 300 AAC can use more common ar15 parts and only requires a barrel change ( you even use the same mags). It runs well in super short barrels and loaded subsonic still cycling the action.

It's not for everyone but myself, I like it. Many people say it s a fantastic pig round

308 is easier to find local but more expensive. I love how 300 blkout uses the same everything except the barrel, no magazine capacity loss either. The AR10 is going to be heavier than its AR15 counterpart in 300 blkout.

Gas system needs to be no longer than carbine length for 16" or longer barrels, for SBR applications look for a pistol length gas system especially if running subsonic rounds. So far all I have run in my 16" barrel have been supersonics. Zero cycling issues.
