I keep hearing all the negativity and all the praise I been wanting to shoot a doe with the reloads I have for a confidence builder but every deer I have seen so far has been half a mile away on public and people are everywhere hopefully during the week will be different. I was about to feel more confident today after thinking about it and a friend brought by a decent buck this afternoon that his nephew shot twice in the shoulder and once behind the shoulder with 129 grain hornady and said he finally went down and so did my confidence again. Maybe a doe will come by tomorrow I would hate to lose a good buck

I’ve killed quite a bit of stuff with 6.5x55 (the caliber your man bun aspires to be), and I’ve never had an animal take a step. I only used 120 grain Corelokt bullets in my handloads though.
I won’t let go of any of my 120 grain bullets but will send you some 140 grain Corelokts if you want to try them.

I’ve read a lot of the same stuff. I’ll throw out a couple hypothesis. The caliber took a major jump in popularity and was bought by every new deer hunter. It was even bought by those that had used a tried and true gun of many years but wanted something different.
Here’s my confession, I did the latter. Still not writing it off as I haven’t had a good opportunity to let the caliber proof itself.
Im chalking the numbers up to new hunters using that caliber. Just a guess.
