The Creed will out perform the Grendel and you won't need a 28-30" barrel to do it. Bullets are a wash, both shoot high in the BC arena. A 22-24" AR10 in a 6.5 Creed will manage 2,700-2,850fps shooting 140gr hybrids. Run the ballistics, you're supersonic beyond 1,400yds.

Ok, I'm just throwing this out there for discussion.
If the 6.5 Creed will only run 2850 with a 140 grain, why not stick with the 30-06 shooting the same bullet at over 3000? Bolt gun, yes.

Here Dennis....... in 30-06, .270, 25-06 and .300 win mag.

http://onlylongrange.com/bn36-long-range-assassin-30-06/

Cool! I shot a .300 Win Mag Nemo at the range a couple of months ago. Felt like a weak .243 in recoil.

Hiredhand, I agree it could be the BC, of the smaller caliber bullet, but at the same time the 06 has higher velocity using that same weight.

When does velocity overcome BC in that scenario?

I'm not familiar with 30-06....do they make a 140gr for this chambering? If they do I'm sure the BC would suffer greatly. You would need to step up to a 200gr 30 cal bullet to match the 6.5 hybrid BC. I doubt you would achieve 3,000fps with a 30-06 shooting a 200gr bullet. Recoil would be greatly increased w/o a break and cost of shooting would increase as well. Personally I enjoy shooting my 260 w/140gr all day long compared to shooting my 7mm w/180gr bullets.

Okie, you listed two different bullets, two different manufacturer's with two different BC's.

I know the BC's are going to change with the caliber/diameter.

What is the difference with both from the same bullet/manufacturer?

That was the highest BC .30 cal 140 I could find (I could only find 2 manufacturers of 140gr .30 cal, the other was a 30-30 soft tip clunker) , and not the highest 6.5 BC 140 I could find.

I agree, there is not a 140 grain.
One needs to pick a bullet comparable to both.
.30 cal goes down to a 90 grain and up to 220 grain or higher in the Win Mag.
