Here is where you should go for some 1911 info. www.10-8performance.com
I use powermags and cobra mags. The novaks I have develop cracks in the feed lips after not really many rounds. Out of 10 that I had two are still good. The best I think. And Hilton Yam says this is best. Take a 8 round powermag. Take the Tripp/cobramag spring and follower kit. Put it all together. Makes it a 7 round mag. It is solid. Never a problem. You can use other brands of tubes as well. Regards

That is SWEET! Get some wood and you will be GTG

Yep. Why? Is that a bad thing? :ugh2:

Here is some pron for everybody else. The pic I posted in the very first post is a pic of a "newer" model. This is the actual .45 I'll be getting. Hopefully, it will have a different set of grip panels on it (hint, hint, hint...wink, wink, nudge, nudge) when I get it. :D

Damn! Maybe I oughta not go with a 1911 after all! This ******** sounds like more trouble than it's worth! :ugh2: You don't have this kind of trouble with Glock magazines. :rolleyes2

I'm just sayin'! :wink2:

With your proclivity to change platforms, I could have told you that.

Ken Hackathorn once told me in a class that if you treat your gun like a lawnmower (which I do), buy a Glock. If you are willing to be on a first name basis with your gunsmith, you can use a 1911.

Actually though, 1911's that were truly built to JMB specs don't normally have issues. :) The old warhorses were made pretty loose and would fire anything of the 230 grain variety. We still shoot an old Colt 1911 A1 from just before WWII and it runs like a champ, it's just not the most comfortable to shoot!

This.

However an 8 round mag is NOT in JMB's specs.

*sigh* :rolleyes2 Ok. So. I gotta know before I make an order.

Am I better off to get 7 round mags?

Or...

Should I get 8 round mags and only load 'em with 7 rounds?

Or...

Should I just buy 8 round mags, fill 'em to the brim and tell JMB to go to hell. :selfangel

If you want a flush fit mag then get 7 round mags. If 7 rounds in the mag doesn't do it for you then get a Tripp Cobra or a Wilson ETM 8 round mag. I prefer the Tripp 8 rounder over the Wilson ETM.
