Can I take a 2D maglite in my carry on?

I can't find a straight answer on this. We're going to Central America, and one of the things they said to bring is flashlights. I'm bringing my little one, but if I can, I'll bring the maglite too.

I'm not sure about your international carriers, but I fly about a hundred thousand miles domestically each year and my 4Sevens Quark Tactical goes with me in my carry-on.
