Few weeks back I asked for the Serial Number on a 22 Revolver on here. He denied sending it to me. He lost out on the sale. The 22 Revolver is still on here. Would have been gone weeks ago had the serial number not been so secretive!
Are you gonna run the SN or just looking for a range of SN to get a general idea of date? I wouldn't give out SN

I use the # to look for DOM.

I have asked for "enough of the # to ascertain manufacturing date" and gotten what I wanted.
Generally, the first few digits - 4 to 6
- is enough.

The other things @OK Corgi Rancher that can be frustrating: pictures that show dirty, messy areas, nasty toes and firearms that have accessories on them that are NOT included in the sale. If it is not included, you are keeping them, etc take them OFF before the pictures.

Also, ambiguous ads such as: may have some extra magazines or ammo to throw in. Well, do you? You either do or don’t. Be specific. I have four extra 15 round mags included or will offer to buyer for $100.

I suppose you could but that story would fall apart really quickly under just a little bit of scrutiny.

Not really.

There are crooks out there and they will find a way.

I get frustrated and ignore ads without pics. Some people have no idea how to sell anything.

Some ads are just pathetic.

"Selling my gun. It is a good one, but need some rent money. Make me an offer. I don't check messages. Call me direct. 405-555 5555"

That's only gonna work if the investigating officer is brain dead and doesn't ask questions. I'm pretty sure with just a few questions from the thief and the legitimate owner I could figure out who was telling the truth in short order.

Would be no different than a potential buyer looking at a gun, making note of the serial number, telling the seller he wasn't interested then reporting it stolen later and telling the cops, "I even went to look at it to confirm it was mine."

It has happened. Stupid, but most criminals are the sharpest.
