Thanks. I believe that most people would like this crazy crap to stop. God help us if it keeps deteriorating. I remember even now that my Momma taught me that "Two wrongs don't make a right". I'd be interested in ideas on how we can show support for the police and keep it civil. We sure don't need to stir anything up. A peaceful show of public support? Or would that possibly cause troublemakers to come out of the woodwork? Maybe not such a good idea, I can see it now, a bunch of gun carrying Okies gathered to show support and call for peace and some idiot does a drive-by ... not a good scenario. Maybe I better just say a prayer and keep my redneck nose and maybe dumb ideas to myself

It is getting pretty scary out there. Nut jobs are popping up all over the place.

Personally, I wish us as a people would come together to help keep the peace. How many people drove past a weirdo holding an assault rifle before some did something minimal like call the police? It only would have taken one legally armed citizen to prevent the entire thing.

Three police officers dead, three wounded. Would one legally armed citizen have made a difference? Or would it be one more dead good guy?

I think the surprise element could have played a big part right? Maybe?

The guy obviously had a plan, when he saw blue and reds he started trigger pulling. Imagine you roll up on him. Because you are a concerned citizen you want to know why there is a guy strolling down the road with an assault rifle. You stop, catch him off guard with a "hey man, everything ok?". He is most likely going to point the rifle at you, and which point you will put a couple on him. I am not saying it is a perfect situation, but a lot better than those officers walked in to. Just a thought. Not saying it is the right answer, but had the potential to have a better outcome at least.

It's nice to think about being the hero, but in reality, one would probably be lying dead in the morgue right now. I'm not saying one shouldn't try to stop a bad guy with a gun, but man...going up against a guy with a long gun who is already set on killing people with a pistol? I dunno...if I 100% KNEW the guy was shooting people (cops), I doubt I would engage him in either conversation or with a handgun, but as long as I was still in my car, why not use it?
