Yes, they are VERY territorial of their cages. best fix, if you are quick enough, is to catch their beak, like you are pinching GC's nose. don't pinch hard , just hold it and say no. or get in and get out FAST.
sounds like a fairly bird, you should be able to tell the sex as soon as it talks or sings since you are playing the radio, when it sings George Straight or Martina McBride.

Ok, thanks turkeyrun. I can read him pretty good already. He gets a certain look right before he strikes. I know birds don't respond to punishment like dogs or cats, but I wasn't sure exactly what to do. I put a toy in his cage and he went NUTS! i finally took it out he was so unhappy, but it was a HOOT to watch!! Lol
ETA: OK, I tried the snagging his beak thing. It worked like a charm. He drew back and looked at me like
, cocked his head like he might try again and then just shook it off and got up on my finger like a good little bird!

I had a conure once, nasty like chickens, chewed anything wood and would bite anyone. Even the cat didnt go near him. Luckily he flew out a window.

Speaking of your dogs, how's he doing with training your dog?
Ginger's doing great and Eagle is gonna be two weeks ahead of everybody in his class. I'm a little concerned about him because we saw an unleashed dog on our walk the other day and he barked and barked and barked. Nothing would quiet him down. Not a toy, not treats, nothing ... If he's that wound up out in the open I can only imagine how stressed he's gonna be in a room full of dogs he doesn't know. My only saving grace is he trusts me ... Otherwise, I don't think I would be able to handle him. He'd drag me all over hell's half-acre and back ... Bless his heart, he's laying here at my feet sound asleep. You'd NEVER know he was so "conflicted" if you didn't see him in action. He's such a sweetie ... How's Raya doing??
