I had a labral tear. The surgery and recovery are very similar. The stretching and range of motion exercises were the only painful part. Just make sure that you are constantly moving, don't allow your shoulder to get stiff or it'll be that much more uncomfortable.

I ended up needing a 2nd surgery. I first noticed it during my PT range of motion exercises, but you could hear the anchors "squeaking". Literally sounded like a rusty door hing. My therapist could hear it and told me to wait and see if it went away. A year later it was still there and I ended up needing a 2nd surgery. They didn't notice it last time, but my collar bone had partially fused with my scapula and was the cause of the origianl tear. They removed 2 of my 5 anchors and ground off 1 1/2 inches off my collar bone. My 2nd recovery was a lot slower than the first. Have to say, it often feels better than my "good" shoulder, except when the weather changes.

My wife had it and the next day she said we should have just cut the effer off! She should have gotten the chair; however, the doctor did not order it within 72hrs of the surgery so insurance wouldn't pay for it.

This is a timely question I am at home recovering from rotator cuff surgery right now. The surgery itself was not bad at all, My surgeon used a nerve block as part of my surgery. This made my arm completely numb for about 24 hours. I think that helped a great deal as I didn't even want a pain pill until the next day! As the others have said get the chair I hate it but everytime I use it I get a little more ROM back. Put the chair in front of the TV or someplace with entertainment because It gets really boring sitting in one place two hours at a time. My doc has me use the chair three times a day two hours at a time.

It sucked Balls!!. I guess it depends on what was done as to the level of pain. They took bone from the end of my collar bone and fixed two tears. I slept? in a chair for a two weeks. couldnt lay flat on my back. It was worth it in the end, but damn if the first two weeks after didnt suck... It was bad enough that I am putting off getting the other one done. It needs it worse than the first...
