Whatever became of the 6.8 SPC?

I think the Grendel would be a great choice

6.8spc is about 80% of 308 power which fits the bill. That case necked down to a 260 cal. would probably meet the needs even better with a little more range. Jordanian SF runs the 6.8spc in rifles made by LWRC as well as a few others units.

6.8 is the way to go. Travels long and accurate. Fits in the AR dimensions.
