1/2 the fun of smoking is fighting the temp changes hourly and drinking beer. Two 8lb briskets going on at 9am which gives me 5:45 of sleep if I go now..............um.............ok, rethinking the green egg.
No BBQ at 225, you can grill with one also and from what I hear home made pizza is the best off a BGE.
If they don't get hot enough the steaks will suck. We've baked cookies on the traeger. It doesn't get hot enough for steak but I prefer gas steaks anyway.
I have a Cookshack and a BGE. I love both but when I want the best, I use the BGE.
I have a Traeger, and we love it. Never had a BGE, but I have heard good things about them.
There is a BBQ store on N May just north of Memorial in OKC that carries many grills/smokers, including the BGE. You might check them out sometime. They have demo days a couple times each year. Also the Propane store on Broadway Extension near Wilshire also carries the BGE and has demo days as well.

Lol, steaks would suck at 225. The BGE can hit over 700 in about 15 minutes from start up. That would give you a nice juicy rare steak with a perfect "bark" from the searing.
The BGE will get more than hot enough to cook a steak..
I just a search on craigs list for "big green egg" and "green egg" all for sale and pulled nothing... lol that tells me people hang onto them..
