or it could end up being a very stupid move for the UK. No one knows.

Exiting the EU does not guarantee them more power when it comes to trade. Time will tell

Donner, the main issue with the EU is that is was nominally NOT a "State" (by design) but it was clearly acquiring State-like attributes over time generally one bureaucratic rule at a time with little or no input or control by the people being affected. I have no apocalyptic fears about a united Europe, like some, but no one should want a union that arises by misdirection, slight-of-hand, and ever increasing bureaucratic expansion with no checks and balances or democratic oversight.

It is hard to find a difference between the U.S. and Britain in this light -
Both have a political elite that has become unrepresentative of the people. The elite touts mass Muslim immigration as humanitarian while overlooking the large potential for terrorism. Both elites are quietly receiving funding from Islamic sources to favor issues like mass Muslim immigration.
Both elites are responding to big business and it's hunger for cheap labor in the form of immigrants of all persuasions.
Both elites push social welfare for immigrants in order to increase their voter support.
Both elites see themselves as facilitating and riding a natural, irresistible wave of globalization... so they see themselves as noble and visionary.
Both elites forget that the mainstream of the populace is increasingly threatened by terrorism, economically challenged and resentful of a never ending stream of unfulfilled promises from their representatives. .

Up until recently both elites thought they were smart operators and knew how to play the game but now that pesky thing called democratic elections has thrown a wrench into their gears. Now they are feverishly working to develop a modified game plan.

What I see is a bunch of uber-rich, uber-powerful, self-appointed "royalty" and a bunch of social justice warriors who are pissed off and wetting their pants because the majority of BREXIT voters ignored them. Whether you like it or not, the middle class still has a lot of numbers and power. They don't like being ignored and marginalized.

The EU was 14 years old. That's what, half a nanosecond on the timeline of global dynasties? The world didn't just collapse and human rights did not suffer any measurable setback due to this. The only reason the global markets are off today is because a bunch of goobers who ought to know better are freaking out like a tween girl at a boy band concert. Anyone who's making a big deal out of this doesn't hold much credibility in my opinion. In other words, meh... :coffee2:

Interestingly, some people in the EU didn't start wondering what would happen until after the vote. Some excerpts are below and the link has the top 5 searches.

After Brexit Vote, Britain Asks Google: 'What Is The EU?'

"According to data from Google Trends, the searches for "what is the eu" and "what is brexit" started climbing across Britain late into the night. The polls closed at 10 p.m. local time."

"Though of course searches for these questions were dwarfed by the general interest in "Brexit results," the question "what is the EU" spiked in popularity across all parts of the U.K., in this order: Northern Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland."

Good for the UK. Bad for the New World Order.
Exactly! The liberals worldwide are besides themselves. The media is going rampant because the end of the world as they expect it is near. That place is a being overran by social program leaches because of the EU. The euro markets are down about 8% which is about how much They increased over the past 10
Days.

After the rash of rapes and violence perpetrated by middle east migrants, the British did not want the EU to force them to accept more of these animals.

I agree, but also find the demographics in England interesting - most of the younger folks voted to stay but they're also the ones who had never actually experienced anything else in their lifetime.

They also seem to have a credible conservative media. I think ours needs bolstering.

Whether the UK had made this move or not, there are some serious questions as to the long term viability of the EU. It is held together very weakly. The central gov in Brussels has worked very hard to form means to force it to work, but people seem to be getting tired of the high-handed ops being thrust upon them. UK pulling out may simply bring about an earlier radical change than would otherwise have happened.
