If you are going to be using well water, I would definitely try to talk to others in the area about their water quality and who they used to drill their wells. Then you can ask the drillers what their experience has been locating good drinking water and depths of wells in the area. Our water is a bit salty for drinking here, but not enough to keep from cooking with it or giving it to the animals. It just isn't as good as other areas as far as taste. We have an RO setup with multiple taps and feeds to the refrigerators for water and ice there, so it works. We may be increasing the size of our pressure tank for the system though because we can go through 3-4 gallons of drinking water a day pretty easily.
