JB,
I appreciate your gesture and motivation but it's time everyone realizes that it is not about the GUN part at all; it has been and always will be about the CONTROL part. They will move down the checklist until there is nothing left not subject, at least partially, to their control. There will be hundreds of red herrings thrown out and thousands of sacrifial exploitations trampled under the foot of "progress" along the way until this ultimate goal is realized. The concept of the free individual has been reviled and under constant attack since the moment Man has been cogniscent of it.

This is an apolitical statement for those of you who bed wet and for those of you who can't stay out of my bedroom....

Any thoughts on what the advanced training would consist of? My issue is that would open the door to letting the .gov decide how much is enough training.

I'm going to use this statement only because tons of anti's use it...as a former Marine, I can tell you that just becaue you qualify as "expert" on the static range once a year, it DOES NOT make you "qualified". Just because you were in the military, it DOES NOT mean you have had extensive training on any/all weapon system. Sure, depending on your MOS, you will receive extensive training, but infantry and specialized personel in the military is a very small portion.

I thought I was a good shot with a pistol because I qualified expert every time. Then I went to my first IDPA match and discovered I was (and still am) pretty damn novice. My point is, the gubment isn't the "end all be all" of training.

I don't believe that at all SG. I've just seen it posted on this very forum when talking about teachers packing heat.

I know you don't, just responding to hopefully incite discussion ;)

I completely agree, its hard to kick them out once one opens the door to letting the government regulate.
