I don't know if there were more than 3 types. But I think the yellow clam shell was more popular. It had a hole to hold a funnel. Being plastic the lantern had to be cool before you could put it back in.

I don't know what they called the bottom snap type but if they weren't snapped in good lanterns have fallen out while carrying.

The guillotine type were not weather tight and you might find the bottom of the fuel tank rusty and setting in water if left out in the weather. They had a place to store mantles and generator. The one for the 228 was wider

I’ve ones like the two on the right. I like the metal one and wouldn’t mind finding a few more. Just not going to pay the stupid prices being asked now a days.
