You'd probably have to ask the announcers, since they are the ones that used that term. But OU's defense had looked pretty good in the first three games. So that's probably why.

Martinez is a good player, and if I remember right gave OU trouble last year with Nebraska. Vaughn is a small but tough runner, reminds me of Quentin Griffin but maybe #22 has a little to do with that. OU had no answer for the run game, maybe the defensive game plan assumed KSU would try to pass more?

But you're right... OU did not play up to their potential, and KSU played their best game by far. Maybe they underestimated Martinez? Who knows?

FWIW, OU typically has one or two games a year where the defense just collectively loses their mind. I was hoping a whole new coaching staff would not adopt that tradition, but that's kind of what yesterday looked like.
KSU had the worst scoring offense in the big 12, until Saturday. Granted I don’t expect OSU to fair any better next week vs Baylor.

Baylor 49 OSU 21 and I’m an OSU fan. The defense sucks. Maybe we can suit up some band members and teach them to tackle by Saturday.

Its pretty simple, all of the local media are OU homers and pump them up to be more than what they really are (has been this way since 2000 when they actually won something). Im an OSU fan, both teams are way overrated right now and neither should be in the top 10. I think OU hired the right coach, Venables seems to be a good fit and has the team headed in the right direction but its not going to be overnight.

2000 since they won something lol? So by this view, the poke have never won anything? I'll take it.

It’s not just the local media. ESPN guys love OU. I wouldn’t put OSU in top 10 either, Sanders is sketchy, you never know when he will show up, and away games are not his strong suit, and their secondary is really green. Wouldn’t surprise me if they lost to Baylor. The difference here is OSU fans are realistic, while most OU fans got their heads in the clouds. I used to listen to the Sports animal radio, and the number of OU fans calling in every year preseason stating that OU was gonna be National Champions that year was amazing. Every year like clock work. Like listening to some comment from AOC.

Good god man you're embarrassing yourself with your effort lol. ESPN loves OU? What ESPN are you watching?

The only person that was really touting OU this week was Colin Blowhard and OU fans hate him. Other than that, OU fans were very cautious on the boards. So who's doing all this talking you speak of? Not on this board. I mean, we can't help it if you get triggered if a commentator says "elite D" when calling an OU game. People expect it out of OU and they are on their way to producing a better defensive product..... unlike OSU.

Name a year since then that they have achieved something great. They win the Big 12 which everyone says is a weak league then get smashed in a playoff game or a bowl game. The only year I can think of is the year they beat Alabama like 8 years ago, and both were already out of contention for a National Championship.

So you're saying the Pokes have NEVER won anything? Fascination to see a Poke have an NC or bust attitude.
