The trigger, while it is very smooth, is apparantly something that I'll have to become accustomed to, as the muzzle tends to wander when I reach the end of the cycle. I'm hoping that the Hogue grips I just ordered from Midway will help with that, as my hands are quite large.

I have also got to get my ammo from my house in Oklahoma up to here.

Some of that wandering will be that sub-29oz weight. How does DA/SA stack up to the 681?

Quite favorably, I think. And you are very likely correct in that at least some it is the light weight of the Viper especially when compared with an L-frame or heavier S&W.
Well, no rocket science on my part, as a lighter gun is going to be more squirrely than heavier, especially in DA, but that's one of those trade-offs, and seems worth it on a sub-29oz 4"bbl carry revolver with good sight radius, as squirrels can be trained, but not distance between sights. Nobody can complain on high MSRP on the Viper, either, it's listed true mainstream.

After a lot of head-scratching and re-reading the instructions from Hogue, I finally got their grips installed on my Viper, and the problem noted in the quoted post is much better. The factory stocks, it seems were too small for my huge paws and the Hogues are a litte bigger--enough to reduce the wandering muzzle. As an added benefit, they don't look horrid on the Viper.

If it's reliable, I have a new EDC.

Happy to hear a fuller grip tamed the raging squirrel....my hands run smaller, and would want something along the lines of the Pachmyer Gripper in Pro version with open backstrap, and which getting such for the new Colt seems unsure if not unlikely....that is a GOOD looking gun you have...

A few days back, I put the factory grips back on. I have a set of the older-D-frame service-style grips on order as well.

I notice that the muzzle has lost it's tendency to wander with the factory grips.

Strange thing about the wandering muzzle.
