Worth noting that the Oklahoma courts have held that it is a bona fide crime -- not just a civil matter that you can sue over, but an arrestable, cuffs-on-the-wrists misdemeanor -- for a company officer to attempt to enforce a ban on lawfully owned guns in their parking lot.

Can you cite to that? I hadn't heard that interpretation.

If it's in your car and out of sight, how would they know?

Unless of course they have one of those policies about 'every person/vehicle is subject to search at any time' things going on.

Our parking lot is inside the security fence. Company said ' no firearms on proprty'. A group of employees got a lawyer to send a letter stating the law. No names,just from 'concerned employees'. Company policy changed.

Its not just the parking lot, its including exterior property, once you go inside the building they have you. See 3.

(Section 1277) "For purposes of paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of subsection A of this section, the prohibited place does not include and specifically excludes the following property:

1. Any property set aside for the use or parking of any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, by a city, town, county, state, or federal governmental authority;

2. Any property set aside for the use or parking of any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, by any entity offering any professional sporting event which is open to the public for admission, or by any entity engaged in pari-mutuel wagering authorized by law;

3. Any property adjacent to a structure, building, or office space in which concealed or unconcealed weapons are prohibited by the provisions of this section; and

True that. It's a misdemeanor for them to do it. But, that won't be their 'reason.'

Incorrect. This section of law only applies to places that are prohibited by law. Private companies are not prohibited places so the exterior property rule does not apply to them.

What allows people to store firearms in their cars in parking lots is Title 21, Section 1290.22 which reads
No person, property owner, tenant, employer, place of worship or business entity shall be permitted to establish any policy or rule that has the effect of prohibiting any person, except a convicted felon, from transporting and storing firearms in a locked vehicle on any property set aside for any vehicle.
