I really like this idea, man standing in a circle with his arms and legs spread out!

I wonder if this would allow landman to leave it in his truck on school grounds?

No it would not.

Read the SDA closely the only exception is driving on to the proprerty to pick up or drop off a student. The firearm and the licensed individual must remain in the vehicle.

Running in to sign your kid out no matter how securely you lock your pistol up is a felony if you park on school property.

Everyone repeat after me, the gun and a permitee must stay in the vehicle on school property when picking up or dropping off a K12 or votech student or you have comitted a felony.

To add another thought to the idea: What is the law regarding an unloaded, secured by lockbox weapon, with the ammo secured in a separate, locked compartment?

I know the SDA is very specific about it, and the solution for most is to park off campus. I get that, no questions there, but I really have zero idea with an unloaded and secure weapon.

Perhaps call the local sheriff and ask? I'd ask very, very carefully since you don't want to give the wrong impression.. heh.

It doesn't matter if it is unloaded or not. NO FIREARMS ON K-12 AND VO-TECH PROPERTY.

It is unlawful to carry IN a school or on school grounds. But if you must leave it in your truck, just make sure that it is completely concealed, and dont tell anyone about it. If nobody see's it you should be fine, unless you also have dope in the car and a drug dog hits on it, giving police permission to search.

There are signs, at least at the high schools in Edmond, that say that by entering the property you consent to have your vehicle searched at any time.

I don't know if this will hold water in court, but I sure wouldn't want to be the test case.

I knew the answer to that before I even finished typing it.....

Cool.

I recently had an oh sh!t moment when my son called me from school sick, I work for the same district he attends school in and have just gotten into the habit of not parking in the district parking lot at my office building. This particular day I knew I had to go to another site and had left my pistol at home but still parked off site at my office.

I called my wife to tell her I was picking my son up, as I was about to go in to sign him he out from the school building when she called me back, she had forgotten to mention that when she drove the truck the day before she had left her pistol in the center console and didn't get it out.

Carrying concealed or leaving the gun in your truck while parked on public or private kindergarten through 12th grade school property or a Vo-tech is a felony. You would have to park the truck on the street, not on school property.
On a college campus you can leave it locked in your truck while parked on campus.

Unfortunately there are a few people who seem to have a hard time grasping this concept.....:smash:
