If my group is doing just fine, then I don't really see a need for an alliance. No need to get involved in everyone else's drama and problems. I've got enough of my own.

First do not let either group know about your group.
Watch both groups and determine if either group would make a good trade partner....
and then trade with either or both if warranted....
but
keep your group safe....
