White House decides to remain respectful....for at least today.

“We are still waiting for more information about the incident in Connecticut,” said Carney. “As we do, I think it’s important, on a day like today, to view this as I know the president, as a father, does, and others who are parents certainly do: which is to feel enormous sympathy for those families affected and to do everything that we can to support state and local law enforcement and to support those who are enduring what appears to be a very tragic event.”

“There is, I am sure, will be, rather, a day for discussion of the usual Washington policy debates, but I do not think today is that day,” he added.

Actually, the press secretary said earlier that the administration remains adamantly in favor of an assualt weapon ban. Not to get off the topic, but if a chinese dude can kill 20 kids with a kitchen knife, I don't think the gun is the problem. There should be trained personnel in every school who is armed, several actually.

Really?? Shopping for guns while reading this never came to mind. I'm fortunate enough to teach in the same building where my kids go to school, frustrating not to be able to carry while on campus. Not that I could prevent it from starting, but I should sure provide a whole new level of response to the situation.

I am a school teacher as well. It would be nice to be able to fight back IF it EVER happened where I teach.

News reports are now coming out that another body has been found at the shooters home. Unconfirmed reports say its the shooters mother.

I was wondering if this would be the case. Sounds like a copycat incident to me but I don't remember which one, I've lost track....:pissed:

The freaking media needs to quit covering these sick bastards...

We allow certain pilots who qualify and are trained to carry firearms in the unlikely event of a cockpit breach. Why are we so unwilling to consider a similar program for qualified teachers?

I think most of us feel that way. I sure do. I took my two elementary aged kids to school today and had to go inside to put money on their lunch account. I left my pistol at the house because it's not allowed in the school or unattended in the parking lot. How many lives could have been saved with a couple of teachers and staff that carry legally, and have even the slightest amount of training. Sad, sad, sad.

Be polite, be professional, have a plan to kill everyone you meet. If you can't carry a weapon at work, find the most effective "non-weapon" that can be used as a weapon you can reasonably get away with and keep it handy. :(
