We have a couple of kites that come in every year and have babies. We have one red tail that comes down and snatches the birds off of our feeder. He comes and goes. Here is a of pic I took out the front door. It is not very good because the sun light was on the window.

I think that is an immature Coopers Hawk, check out the link and look at the pic of the juvenile. His tail has the same striped bars on it and he looks a little long and lean to be a redtail.

I think you are right. I just know when he comes down from the sky all the birds scatter. He grabs one and then flies off. He is pretty mean.
We have an old milk can in the corner by the door. The birds run and hide in the coner behind it. That is what he was looking at.
