After 11 years without a single claim, OFB today notified me that insurance on my home would not be renewed. I call the agent and find that they will only continue my policy if I add my car insurance. I have had my auto insurance with USAA for 43 years and don't see the need to change (OFB can't come close to the rates anyway). I told them I expected a refund on my membership, which was paid today through e-banking. The response was, those memberships are non-refundable. All I have done for 11 years is pay the premium. So much for loyalty. Watch your mail, you too can be betrayed!!!!!! RANT JUST STARTED!!!

I heard the farm bureau oklahoma is having big troubles.

They decided it was wise to drop their reinsurance, which is the insurance that pays them in case of a catastrophic claim event. Then we had several hail storms these last few years in OK.

So they are dropping most of the homes unless they get the autos too. Which adds insult to injury for the people they are non-renewing.

I think they're really going to hurt because of this.

I had the same issue. I dropped my cars from them and went to State Farm. OFB still hit my checking account for 3 months after I dropped them and then notified me my homeowners insurance would now be dropped at the end of the year.

I had been with them for everything since 1989.

Had the same thing happen to us. I switched to State Farm since we already have our auto insurance through them as well. There is only a slight increase since SF will discount our autos when adding a home owner's policy. We have been with Farm Bureau 8yrs and not a single claim. Oh well, time to move on!

All home insurers have been hammered in Oklahoma the last 5 years. Some are trying to make up their losses with programs like this. I agree that it is a big mistake and would be frustrated as well. Even if you don't get a notice like this in your mail, you can still expect a 10% to 20% hike this year.
