I know I can get dsl. There are ATT boxes about every 100 feet. But for some dang reason Vyve is/was too dumb to make it where everyone in the edition could get internet rather than just 3 people at the front of the subdivision. I know for a fact it wouldn't cost anywhere near what they said it would cost. Fiber is ran from the Shawnee office out to the Main Street in front of our edition. Then from there it wouldn't be fiber to the house. That's what makes me so mad. The girl said well it's fiber so it's way more expensive to lay. They aren't running fiber to the houses. Like I said before, I have It now and it's not fiber to my house. And neither is my dads. Who lives a block away from the house we are buying. If Vyve were my company I would have them install a terminal where everyone could get it. And they would have the whole block using it I guarantee.

I'm telling you, just order a phone from them if they have phone service. They cannot charge you $8K for a phone because of universal access. Once the phone is in, tell them you want internet over the same line. If they can't do it, cancel the phone. Worst case you're out a small install fee and a month of service. This is probably what they are trying to get you to do anyway, without telling you so.

My inlaws called AT&T last year and said they aren't adding anymore internet accounts of any kind. That was before Thanksgiving last year. They told her they were upgrading everything in the county and sometime this year they should get access. They live in tribal housing out there.

Edit: BryanDP's idea sounds like it might work. I'd give it a shot. I'n my Inlaws case they said their switches were full so I don't know. I know she asked about DSL specifically because I told her it should be there if they have a phone line.

I know the people living there now have dsl. And as for it being buried or on a pole. It's Burried. I would do it myself but don't know the first thing about doing that. Much rather hire someone to do it that knows what they are doing. Any help is much appreciated.

Not necessarily.

We have ATT, but DSL isn't available here (in spite of all the DSL offers we've received). Or at least it wasn't the last time I checked.

I know. I suspect it's an additional connection in their switch. But DSL does come through the same line of wire that your phone line does. IIRC the phone only uses 2 wires, the DSL runs on the other two.

No clue about DSL, but we had two phone lines several years ago, and each line used two wires (i.e. two separate pairs) of the four.

Correct.

I know that Uverse is actually 2 DSL lines together with some kind of juju going on with them and the modem. How they get the speed they do with that is beyond my paygrade.
