Firearm Question in Doctor's Office

Took my wife to a specialist this week. They handed us an ipad to fill-out 22 pages of health questions. First question: do you have firearm in your home?
What the . . . ! Started doing research into this intrusion of our personal life and many states have passed legislation against this practice.. I am going to contact my state rep and senator to enact legislation against this. Anybody out there experience this problem?

I usually just answer no since it is none of their business.

No, I've never been asked that, but if it ever came up I wouldn't answer it. As JF said, it's none of their business.

At the V A they tried that crap when I went for my intake appointment. My reply was nunya…. And they left it at that. Civvy drs have never asked those type questions.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP's post.

Only questions that need to be asked is what's wrong with you and what insurance do you have or how will you be paying and name and address and sometimes DL number or social security number.

F them.
Wife made me go once when nothing was wrong.
I better be bad sick or bad hurt to go.
She does not even mention it anymore.

I have tape and glue and hot steel/fire to fix myself.

I feel for you guys and gals that have to go often.

The Mrs just went through spinal surgery and I of course go in with her cuz I’m her hubby and love her. One of the questions they started asking her was “Do you feel safe in your home?” Serious topic yes but what a joke. If I were an abuser do you really think she’s going to say “NO” with her abuser sitting right next to her? Just stupid. I know my doc doesn’t take Medicare patients…..well he takes them and charges the same but he refuses to work within their intrusive system. He’s a great doc, keeps a full library in the waiting room of gun magazines and I’d say there are probably 4-5 guns in his office at any given moment. I know I’m always carrying and just set my gun on the counter while they do what needs doing.

I haven't seen that question yet but I expect to anytime now. I'm surprised it's not on the yearly medicare 'wellness check'.
Just remember; it's not your friendly local doctor asking that question, it's the federal government.

I got the same question from a doctor at Integris. My NP at the time contacted the Integris head nurse and she said I did not need to answer it.
