LOL I'm not going to gamble. We are going to celebrate what is essentially our god-daughter's graduation/birthday/going to college. That and visit some of our favorite restaurants that we've not been to since the last time we were in Vegas. Gonna get some GOOD In-n-out burgers (not that crap Texas likes to pass off as InO), El Pollo Loco, probably hit up Fat Burger once, and some other local restaurants that are some damn good eatin'. I have no real desire to gamble, its just something that is fun to do once in a while. The wife and I play to have fun, not try to get money.

Well, made it there and back with 0 issues. My luggage did get "inspected" by TSA on the flight out, but nothing missing (I did use one of those barrel locks to chain my pistol case to my luggage). Also, Vegas was pretty quiet as far as protestors go. But then again we only drove down the strip once. Their economy though is about to drop off a cliff, saw several places closed. But all in all had a great time. Saw quite a few people who were open carrying and a few not quite concealed. And it was HOT! Never went below 112 for the 3 days we were there!

Last time I was there the temps were around 112 degrees. Sat on a concrete bench outside a casino, felt like an oven. Been 10+ years ago, no desire to go back. Gettin' where I don't like crowds.

I would have, but my phone melted.

We didn't go see much, and if you are not on the strip there isn't much to photograph. I did see a nice sunrise on Sat because my body was still on OK time so I woke up at 4:30 am. Right now though I'm glad I don't live in Vegas, they are about to get hit pretty hard with housing. Though I would be tempted to buy a house in about 6 months and use as a vacation property, houses will be pretty cheap soon.

Traveled many times on airlines with weapons in the suitcase.
NEVER carry on, only checked luggage.
Here is the direct info from the TSA. TSA locks are allowed.

  • Declare each firearm each time you present it for transport as checked baggage. Ask your airline about limitations or fees that may apply.
  • Firearms must be unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container and transported as checked baggage only. As defined by 49 CFR 1540.5 a loaded firearm has a live round of ammunition, or any component thereof, in the chamber or cylinder or in a magazine inserted in the firearm. Only the passenger should retain the key or combination to the lock unless TSA personnel request the key to open the firearm container to ensure compliance with TSA regulations. You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks.
  • Firearm parts, including magazines, clips, bolts and firing pins, are prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be transported in checked baggage.
  • Replica firearms, including firearm replicas that are toys, may be transported in checked baggage only.
  • Rifle scopes are permitted in carry-on and checked baggage.
Ammunition
  • Ammunition is prohibited in carry-on baggage, but may be transported in checked baggage.
  • Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be securely boxed or included within a hard-sided case containing an unloaded firearm. Read the requirements governing the transport of ammunition in checked baggage as defined by 49 CFR 175.10 (a)(8).
  • Small arms ammunition (up to .75 caliber and shotgun shells of any gauge) must be packaged in a fiber (such as cardboard), wood, plastic, or metal box specifically designed to carry ammunition and declared to your airline.
  • Ammunition may be transported in the same hard-sided, locked case as a firearm if it has been packed as described above. You cannot use firearm magazines or clips for packing ammunition unless they completely enclose the ammunition. Firearm magazines and ammunition clips, whether loaded or empty, must be boxed or included within a hard-sided, locked case.
  • Please check with your airline for quantity limits for ammunition.

I've never had a problem at any airport except for Denver.
Most just go through their particular airline regulations scanning the bag with a sniffer or nothing at all once declared.
Denver sent two TSA agents to escort me to a separate examining room where the luggage was only sniffed, not opened and then sent on its way through a separate conveyor line to our aircraft. Otherwise it's always been handled right at the check in counter.

Just my opinion, but I think the Government should allow airports to be deregulated for firearms passing through them no matter what the state regs are to prevent incidences #aries discussed.
A case in mind was a gentleman that was legally possessing a pistol on an aircraft that got diverted to NYC.
Being an honest gun owner he declared the firearm when changing flights. He was arrested, jailed and if I remember right had one of the gun rights insurance policies that helped him, and there was a court fight. I think the NRA got involved as well.
Spit balling here on the incident from memory.
What happened to that man is a travesty. I cannot believe NY was able to arrest him when he had no way of stopping the plane from landing there. It wasn’t like he knew they were going to NYC. That needs to be changed. There should be a federal law that protects people from that kind of crap.

There is, it's called the Firearms Owners Protection Act, and the leftist states like NY, NJ and MD routinely break that law.

In 2019 I flew from DFW to Phoenix, then back a week later. In Dallas they boarded me first along with infants and elderly after checking to see that the pistol was secured and labeled properly. Returning at Phoenix the ticket agent escorted my gun and I to a TSA screener who inspected checked baggage. He looked at it, gave a me a pat on the back and said that he wished more people would learn how to fly and be armed when they arrived. It was Arizona after all...
