For my grandson's nineteenth birthday, he wanted to go skydiving. We were just fortunate enough to be able to do it today which happens to be my 64th birthday. Also included my son and grandson-in-law. Quite a family affair. We did the tandem jumps at the Cushing airpark. For everyone who's remotely interested, this is something I would highly recommend. Gives new meaning to the expression "what a rush".

How long are you in the plane from takeoff to jump? I want to skydive but I have pretty bad motion sickness. I don't do rollercoasters or boats. When I fly, I've only gotten sick on a really bad flight but I'm never really "great" when we land. I'm afraid of those little prop planes. I'd try it if I didn't think I'd puke before I jumped.

It's been a LONG time since I went sky-diving in Ohio; at the time, I decided I'd rather jump by myself, so I elected for a static line jump. Picture the paratroopers in a WW2 movie clipping their lines before stepping out the door of the plane, and basically that's what I did. I even used a round chute like they did in the old days. It was such a magnificent experience floating down all alone from 3,000 feet, that when I landed I gathered up my chute, walked across the airfield to the main office, and promptly paid for a second jump.

Even today, I still get a bit of a rush thinking about it :thumb:

I did the static line and jumped at 3500 feet. Its hard to tell because I was thinking about other things other than time but I would guess we were in the plane approximately 10 mins before I jumped.

I really want to do it. How much did it cost?

You have three different options:

Static line at 3500 feet was $175
Tandem at 10000 feet was $190
Accelerated Free Fall at 10000 was $290

I can't imagine that rush. I have jumped off some pretty high cliffs & bluffs, to increase that fall by several thousand feet... I literally can't wrap my head around it. It's definitely on my short bucket list.
