Motored up to Lookout in the boat and waded the area above it this morning. Caught nothing with the emerger/zebra midge two fly combo under an indicator for over an hour moving up and down the bank.
Moved the indicator so the flies would be a few inches deeper and the bite was on. Trout are incredibly sensitive to the depth they feed in.
Caught around 2 dozen over the next three hours. One brown and the rest rainbows. Apologies for the lousy photos but I was waist deep and it is what it is just taking a few pics. Not many days on a trout stream anyone has this volume of catches so I’m pretty pumped tonight heading back to that area in the morning.
All fish were released in good health.

Zero wind equaled zero bite. You want a little chop on the water to give the flys some action.
Caught two when the wind came up with the third hitting like a freight train. Couldn’t do anything to stop it with a 3 lb tippet. Played it for 5 minutes before it disappeared with my flys after swimming through some tree roots in the water. Caught two more and called it a morning.

Well, I’m headed down a new rabbit hole.
Got a Renzatti fly tying vise in the mail two days ago.
Spent most of last night watching YouTube videos about tools, thread, hackle, dubbing and so on.
My Amazon cart was pretty full last night when calling it an evening.

Dennis, I really enjoy fly-fishing too and do a little fly tying but not very good at it at all. We'll need to hook up on a trip sometime.

Well, I’m headed down a new rabbit hole.
Man I was making jigs and flies and spinners in the 8th grade.
About time you started.

Now get this.
Walk the barbed wire fence line and collect all the hair that critters leave on the barbs.
You can take that and stretch a length of sewing thread out and twist it around the thread and make a yarn that you can twist around the body of the hook.

Dogs hair too long..Oh yea.
Blue healer? yes yes!

You will have a good time with it I guarantee it.
And if you are grounded to your bedroom you can get a lot of jigs/flies made :)
