Can you upgrade these systems with better cameras? I would like to start with a basic system and upgrade cameras as money permits but don't know if if is possable. I would like a really good nightvison(ir) cam over driveway and front first then upgrade from there.

The Cox Home Security consultant just left my house. The system is pretty decent. You can have up to 6 IR cameras installed, wireless lighting control, wireless thermostat, wireless smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, key fobs to arm/disarm and other options as well. The system canbe controlled via your smartphone, tablet, laptop or home computer. Anything with internet can control it. However, there is no DVR to record video. The cameras do not start recording until the alarm goes off(you can view your cameras at any time online). The big downside is the cost. Here is my estimate: current panel swap to update to their system($249.00), key fob($49.00 each), wireless smoke detector($99.00 each), outdoor IR camera($189.00 each), interior camera($129.00 each), lighting control modulator($79.00), wireless thermosat($199.00). So for the system I wanted to put in was going to basically cost me $1800.00 plus $40/month monitoring.
