I am not a contractor, but I can tell you, it is not difficult. I used steel "I" beam for the new header and it is as strong as ever, and this was done with a room above. Just keep the jacks in place till you are sure you can pull them and be careful. Things falling on the head are not pleasant
You could just cut out a mirror hole on one side. Since you have no HOA. LOL
I just got done straightening those tracks a couple of months ago. I really don't want to be jumping a hole.
