How do you go about selling gold & silver; e.g., the Gold Crucifix? Local buyers aren't even going to pay you what it cost you.

In my experience, Most Gold & Silver or Coin shops will buy at ~20% under spot for the items weight.

They turn around and list it for ~ 20% above spot

Sounds like a great deal for "protecting" yourself. Buy a $1000 for $1200 or sell for $800. Spot price rises 50% to break even.

Lead and brass is a better investment.
